This Town Lets Kids Design Its Christmas Lights And The Results Are Absolutely Lovely (18 Pics)
The Advent Season starts this Sunday, November 29th. Those who consider the beginning of Advent on December 1st, that’s next Tuesday, so I think it’s a very sensible time to start getting excited about the holiday season without people hating on you because “it’s too early to start thinking about Christmas,” right?
In the spirit of the upcoming holidays, Newburgh, a village in Fife County, Scotland, has kicked off its annual Christmas light festival that features Christmas light designs that were inspired by children’s drawings. Yes, kids' drawings were turned into Christmas light designs and hung around the village to spread cheer and joy of the holiday season!
Bored Panda has collected the winners of all of the Christmas Light Festivals held in Newburgh since 2002 through to 2019 and has compiled the amazing list below. Check them all out below, and why not vote and comment on the ones you liked the most!

So, there’s this annual festival that features Christmas light designs in the streets of Newburgh, Scotland. The kicker here is that all of these designs are actually recreations of school kids' drawings. And isn’t that awesome?
This tradition started back in 2002 and has been going on annually up to this day. And you know what? The pandemic isn’t stopping anyone from spreading some holiday cheer. There are no winners for this year, so stay tuned!
Anywho, this year, the tradition just began on Saturday, adding a special kind of sparkle throughout the village.

The designs featured throughout the years vary greatly, but all maintain that kid-like charm. As soon as you see one of the light designs, you immediately understand just how much love and dedication the kid has put into it.
Among the various lights, you have angels, reindeer, Santa Claus, penguins, snowmen, Christmas trees, and funnily enough, turkeys and chicken reindeer.

One Tweeter, Poppy McKenzie Smith, shared some of the winners of the previous years on her Twitter and it went viral immediately. As it stands now, the tweet has garnered over 155,000 likes with nearly 27,000 retweets. It also took off on Imgur where it got over 110,000 views.
The tweet’s caption read as follows: “Our village Christmas lights are designed by the local primary kids and they are the single best thing about the festive season.” True that, they brought joy to our hearts here at Bored Panda too!
