‘I’ve Always Wanted To Find Her And Thank Her Because Gosh, I Love Her’: Woman Tracks Down Her Favorite High School Teacher On Twitter And Leaves People In Tears
Most of us probably had that one teacher in school we’ll never forget. Whether they helped us to realize our potential, supported us through rough times, or stood up to bullies—no matter which one or all of these, we hold these people dear to our hearts. However, have you ever tried to reach out to that one special teacher? To let them know just how much impact they had on you, how they inspired you? Well, Raifa Rafiq—a writer, lawyer, and podcaster—recently did and it turned out as wholesome as you can imagine.

“OMFG! Guys. There was literally a teacher at school who I loved so dearly (English teacher – she left when I was in year 10) and I don’t even know why but randomly decided to do internet stalkies because I’ve always wanted to find her and thank her because gosh I love her,” Raifa started off her series of tweets. She later shared that she found the teacher, Jenny, on Twitter and reached out to her. “I don’t know why I want to cry,” Raifa tweeted. “I’m so nervous my legs are jelly.”

Naturally, people on Twitter found the online “reunion” between the student and her favorite teacher adorable. Some were wondering whether they should reach out to their favorite educators too, to which Twitter was quick to reply: “do it.” One woman added that “teachers love hearing from their former students,” while one former teacher confessed that for her, the Twitter thread “was heartwarming” to read.
Raifa’s Twitter thread did not go unnoticed, with more than 15k likes and over 2k retweets. Irish actress Bronagh Waugh was one of the retweeters and added: “Teaching is such an honour. So often student & teacher equally inspire each other. And I’m here for it. In floods of [tears] over this beautiful interaction. [Raifa and Jenny] sound like absolutely brilliant women that inspired each other.”
